McCake

Public Service Administration has made a new great hilarious video: a birthday video congratulating John McCain on 72 years named “McCake”.

John McCain is a genuine war hero.
Apparently that remarkable personal history makes him immune to criticism and good at everything else, why wouldn’t he be able to whip up a mean cake?

Miss USA falls again

Reigning Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart falls at the Miss Universe pageant in Vietnam, this comes of course after the previous Miss USA, Rachel Smith, also fell down during the last year’s competition.

That’s 2 years in a row, you think they can go for 3?

Arming Mickey Mouse

If you thought the NRA would lay low for a while, you’ve been sadly mistaken.

A week after the stupid conservative Supreme Court decision on gun control, the NRA wants employees to be able to bring guns to Disney World Florida. This comes of course after they want guns allowed at airports, these guys don’t know any rational middle ground, they’ll swing to the extreme faster than you can say ‘Mickey Mouse’.

To summarize: an employer can force you to wear certain clothes to work, but not prohibid guns on it’s private property.
Maybe this will break the Republican Party in 2 camps: gun nuts vs corporate Repugs.

A new Florida law permits workers to bring legal guns to work. Officials at Walt Disney World say they are exempt, and the NRA and some prominent Florida lawmakers are fighting back. Dan Abrams is joined by Florida Republican Rep. Stan Mayfield, who helped pass the law, and Brian Siebel of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

Wes Clark blasts McCain on military experience

General Wesley Clark on Face the Nation June 29, 2008

Retired general Wesley Clark in Little Rock, AR tells Bob Schieffer that although John McCain has experience in the military, he lacks the diplomacy and strategy of Barack Obama

some Clark jewels:

Well, I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president

I certainly honor his service as a prisoner of war. He was a hero to me and to hundreds of thousands and millions of others in the armed forces, as a prisoner of war. And he has traveled all over the world. But he hasn’t held executive responsibility

He hasn’t been there and ordered the bombs to fall. He hasn’t seen what it’s like when diplomats come in and say, I don’t know whether we’re going to be able to get this point through or not

McCain takes credit for GI Bill he opposed

John McCain at a town hall event in Warren, Ohio taking credit for the GI Bill he opposed, yes that’s right he voted against it

I’m happy to tell you that we probably agreed to an increase in educational benefits for our veterans that not only gives them that gives them an increase in their educational benefits, but if they stay in for a certain amount of time than they can transfer those educational benefits to their spouses and or children. That’s a very important aspect I think of incentivizing people of staying in the military.

Another giant flip-flop from Republican candidate for President John McCain

Lieberman Must Go!

by Brave New Films

Joe Lieberman is a war hawk, plain and simple. He staunchly supports George Bush’s War in Iraq and John McCain’s plan to stay in Iraq for 100 years. But Lieberman’s new alliance with the Republican Party runs even deeper. He has endorsed and stumped for McCain, wants to be the star of the Republican National Convention, and has even served on a 527 group that smeared Barack Obama with a nasty attack ad.

And yet Lieberman still holds a top rank within the Senate Democratic Caucus as chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The Senate Democratic Steering Committee needs to know just how much of a conflict of interest this is. That’s why we created Lieberman Must Go.

Here’s what you can do: Sign our petition today and tell the Senate Democratic Steering Committee to strip Lieberman of his leadership role in Congress. Then, e-mail this video to everyone you know.

Recently in Talking Points Memo, Josh Marshall suggested that the best way to limit Lieberman is by encouraging the Steering Committee to render him powerless in 2009.
